cassie visits utah

This past week, Zach and I got to have a visitor come + stay with us for a few days! It was awesome. Cassie Demsher and I have been friends since my senior year of high school. We met during Hairspray! and I am so very grateful to have her as my friend. Cassie got baptized a few weeks ago so it was extra cool for her to come out and see the Beehive state (A.K.A. the motherland)! The first day, my cousin Andrew + I picked up Cass from the airport and ate a nice hearty breakfast at Cracker Barrel! We spent the day hanging out with cousins in Salt Lake. Tuesday we took a nice long tour of BYU campus and did a bit of shopping. That night we went to the Real Salt Lake V.S. Seattle Sounders soccer game at Rio Tinto! It was such a great game! The next day consisted of IKEA, the Puppy Barn, movies and pizza. Thursday, we were sad to see Cassie off but had a wonderful day in SLC at Temple Square, City Creek + Shave Ice! It was so fun to have Cassie come and stay with us. We are excited to have her come back to stay on our air mattress in our living room soon.
^^ The day we toured BYU we ate at one of my favorite spots, the MOA cafe. There was this really pretty string art display and it was absolutely beautiful! ^^

^^ Pics from the RSL game. It was so, sooo fun and we had great neighbors, some great laughs + a great time! ^^

^^ Thursday was jam packed with temple baptisms at the Provo temple, shopping at city creek + exploring Temple square! We also had yummy Hokulia shaved ice as shown below!

utah valley half

A week ago tomorrow, I ran my second half marathon EVER. Whaaat!! I know, I'm crazy. My training this time around was... lacking, to say the least. However, I finished in just under 2.5 hours so I was super happy with that (since I honestly thought it would take me 3). I run by myself so I just listened to music; shoutout to Billy Joel, Beyonce + One Direction for getting me through the rough spots!

The night before our race, we went over to Z's parent's house for dinner (past a.k.a. carb central) and then stayed the night since Zach's mom, Bonnie (who is an amazing runner and has run 25 marathons + many, many half's), was also running. I wore my new Star Wars shirt for good luck + received my new pair of Nike's from my birthday in the mail so that was EXTRA luck!
The race started at 6:00. Yes, SIX AM. Which meant that busses were leaving at 4:30 at the very latest. So up we got at 3:45 A.M., sleepily put on our clothes + shoes then left for the busses. We were incredibly tired but in good spirits.
It didn't take long to get up to the starting line but it was still really early and we had time to kill. The most important thing to do before a run is go to the bathroom. Like, yeah, poop. It can be awful to have to go while on a long run because, well, it can be hard to run. Which is why there are tons of port-a-potties at the start line and along the course. So, it was nice to have so much time so we could go to the potty before the race started.

^^ We got to meet running legend Ryan Hall who holds the record times for both the half and full marathon's! He was a stellar guy, way nice, and chatted for us for a minute. Here is Z + Bonnie with Ryan!^^

The race was beautiful and we got to run past Bridal Veil Falls, through the beauty of the canyon and then down University Ave to Center street. Towards the end of the run, around mile 9 or 10, you could see the new Provo Tabernacle temple and it was so beautiful! It was absolutely a motivator to me, seeing the temple and knowing it was my finish point. I ran pretty fast the last 2 miles and when I finished, I was DONE. Like probably would've collapsed had I had to run much farther. My sweet sis-in-law and one of my dearest friends, Laurel, was a volunteer at the finish line and I basically ran right into her arms! We hugged and I almost threw up on her (ha! Sorry for the close call Laurel!) but she gave me my medal. It was a wonderful feeling of relief being done + then we napped all the rest of the day. All in all, it was a good race. :)
^^just before the finish line.. LOOK AT THAT RELIEF! // Feelin' real good about being done. ^^
^^ WE DID IT! Go us, man, GO US! ^^

!!First half, August 2014, + second half, June 2015! ^^

June 8th is easily one of my favorite days of the year. Why? BECAUSE IT'S MY BIRTHDAY HOORAY! When I was in middle/high school I was always a little sad because my birthday was over the summer and I didn't typically see my friends on this special day. Now, I have a husband who is stuck with my for forever sooo at least I will always have one person to celebrate with, right? Right.

Since I am a (P.E. and) coaching major, I have to do an internship in the sport I want to coach so I will be doing one with Springville High School's volleyball program this upcoming fall with another intern from my program at BYU. The coaches are great + I am super excited! One thing I wasn't the most excited for, however, was the 8:30 A.M. mandatory district coaches training on my birthday. Boo. As luck would have it, we got there and found out we (the interns) didn't have to be there! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! So I went out to breakfast with some wonderful cousins of mine and then we went to one of the best places in the whole world.

The Puppy Barn.

You may be thinking, "What is the Puppy Barn?". Well, it's heaven on earth is what it is. A place where breeders can have their puppies looked at and held in order to have them sold/adopted. There are so many sweet, sweet puppies and I LOVE IT THERE SO MUCH. LOOK AT THESE PUPPIES!

^^ my hecka cute cousin R-Dawg peepin' in the back there ^^
Doesn't it just look magical? It's free to get in, you have to show I.D. upon entry, you have to wear hand sanitizer and sometimes the puppies are sleeping so you can't pet or hold them. I almost didn't leave... Seriously. It's the best place with the cutest pups.

Once Z got off work and got home, I picked him up and we went to dinner. We ate at a place on Center Street here in Provo called Station 22 Cafe. It was super yummy! I got the adult Mac 'n Cheese + Z got memphis sandwich. I also got us a BEER to share, because you know I had just turned 21! (yes, it was a root beer).
It was my second birthday as Mrs. White and I was treated so well by my hubby and family that I got to spend it with! It was a wonderful birthday sans alcohol.

Today, we had my birthday dinner at my in-laws house! My mom-in-law, Bonnie, and my sis-in-law, Megan, were out of town on my actual birthday so we had my family birthday dinner all planned out for today. It. Was. Amazing. No pictures of the actual dinner but let me give you an idea of how yummy it was: spinach salad with cheese, bacon and poppyseed dressing, potatoes au gratin, watermelon, Alice Springs chicken and warm, fluffy rolls. Yum yum yum. It was seriously one of the most delicious meals I've ever eaten. I also hadn't eaten much since like breakfast in preparation for dinner but it was amazing. Bonnie also made a scrumptious funfetti cake with homemade buttercream frosting and, not only was it beautiful, it was YUMMAY. Look how pretty!
I also got to spend some time with my favorite little Provo buddy + nephew, Simon Phillip, today.
We have too much fun when we're together, chasing each other, screaming, laughing, "gomph"ing and whatnot. He is TOO cute and growing up really, really fast. Especially for this Auntie's taste. Simon is the first nephew/niece that I have really know since before he was born. I remember holding him on the day of his blessing, he was so new + little + sweet. Now he is fun + big + so darn cute. His parents decided they needed to, like, move to North Carolina or something for some sort of degree at Duke so Simon decided he would go with them. I'm really sad they are moving but am soaking in all the Si-guy time I can.

a golden state of mind

Home home home home!! I was SO excited to be able to go home for a week + spend some time with my family. It was weird without my Z + it made me really realize how much better he makes my life. But I also had a lot of fun! Right when I arrive into Oakland, my grandparents + mama picked me up and we made our way to Monterey for a little overnighter. While we were out, I found this sweet Darth Vader shirt and HAD to get it. Why? Star Wars is kind of Z's + my thing. I had never seen it and Zach just couldn't have that so our first date included watching the first 2 (chronologically) Star Wars movies. Ever since then, we've had an extra soft spot in our hearts for the classic movies + when I see Star Wars stuff, of course, I have to get it. Ask Z how many Star Wars things he has from me. Lots.
^^ So naturally I have to take a selfie to send Z ^^

We had such a fun little trip together and I feel so grateful to have these people as my family. I love them so much. It was great being able to spend a little time with them in such a beautiful place. We then went home + I got to see 2/3 of my Moser boys!! My not-so-baby brother Mason and my dad are some of my most favorite people. They would be on the list of my favorite people even if they weren't my family! I loved getting to spend time with them.

One of the best reasons I was home when I was is because one of my very best friends since high school GOT BAPTIZED! Ahhhh, I still can't believe it! Cassie + I met through Hairspray! the musical during my senior year of high school. She's the happiest, sweetest, most awesome gal + we became friends very quickly. Though we lost frequent contact, we remained good friends over the years. Recently, Cassie + I came into frequent contact again and I learned of her going to church. She then took the discussions and was baptized last Saturday, May 30th. I am so so happy for this woman and her decision to follow the example of our Savior Jesus Christ to be baptized. This decision will bring her the greatest happiness she has ever known + I look forward to seeing her bright future unfold.

Cassie will be coming out to visit us a week from tomorrow and I am so stoked! We are going to have such a blast together and I am sooo excited to show her (sell her on moving to) Provo! Of course, my wonderful week home had to come to a close sometime + I was so happy to get back to my Zachary. This was only our second long stretch of time away from each other + although we did better, I still missed him like crazy. We went to dinner when he picked me up to JCW's and he lovingly agreed to me snapping a quick picture of him. We were excited to be back with each other!
I've had a lot of fun during this break before school starts but two weeks from tomorrow I will start summer term so I will be squeezing in a few last adventures + I promise to keep you posted. ;)

bryce canyon trip

When school ended at the end of April, I made it a goal for myself to do fun things while I was on a break before Summer term started in June. We did lots of fun things before Zach's internship and then when he started going to work everyday (all day, pretty much) I started doing things by myself! I went to Riverside for a week and just got home from my week trip home to California.

In between that time, my awesome sis-in-law + bro-in-law, Laurel + Phil, asked me if I wanted to accompany them on a short overnight trip down to the beautiful Bryce Canyon. And beautiful doesn't even begin to cover it. I had a blast riding backseat with my buddy Simon. We had laughing attacks with each other, made chomping noises at each other and just had fun in our little backseat world.
Right when we got there, we caught a shuttle out to one of the hiking trails and began what would be one of the most beautiful hikes I have ever been on. Just absolutely gorgeous. Here are a few pics from our hike.

We then finished our hike (a little tired, I might add) and found a place to eat in the small town of Tropic, Utah. We got some yummy burgers and fish + chips then made our way over to our hotel. We had a fun night chillin (letting our bodies take a rest) watching game shows on T.V. and played a few rousing rounds of Bananagrams. The next day we took a really cool tour of some of the prettiest spots in Bryce Canyon. It was beautiful and good because most of it we sat in the bus. I was a very happy camper about that haha.

^^ a sad Simon :( ^^
It was a short trip but it was so, so fun + incredibly beautiful and I am grateful Phil and Laurel let me tag along. P.S. Please don't move? Kaygreatthanks.
