last hurrah trip: part 2 Church History Trip

Image
After Washington, the next stop on our trip was Brentwood!... For two nights. We got in in the evening and had one day before we left with the Moser family on our church history trip. My parents, Mason, Zach and I flew out of Oakland into Kansas City, MO early in the morning on Saturday. Matt and Brooke flew in late Saturday night/early Sunday morning. We enjoyed a weeklong trip with some family friends that we know through my dad's mission president. We were nervous at first because we didn't know everyone well, but they turned out to be like family. We love the Earl's! They will be visiting New York this year and Zach + I hope to drive up from Durham to join them. Anyways, we visited Independence, Liberty Jail, Far West, Adam-ondi-Ahem, Nauvoo and Carthage jail. It was a wonderful week filled with great people, food and great times. After leaving Nauvoo, we spent a night in Carthage. The next morning, we drove all the way back to Kansas City ...

last hurrah trip: part 1 Washington

We had been planning a big "Last Hurrah!" trip for a while before we actually left on it in June. The year before, we did a very similar trip except backwards. Instead of going to Brentwood (my home) then up to Washington. This time we drove through Idaho and Oregon to Washington then down to Brentwood. Our first stop was in Sammamish, WA. We always love visiting Zach's sister, Emily, and her family. Strawberry + raspberry picking, the USA world cup game, Seattle outings, trips to the lake, ferry rides, so many yummy eats and so many other fun things! We are always treated so well and love being guests in the Sparks' home!

filling the gap

If you happened to notice, 2 posts ago is dated March 6 (which was also delayed because it was about Valentine's) and my most recent post is dated August 25 which is definitely one of the larger gaps on my blog. I wish I had kept up with it a bit better but at the same time, I have been learning to live more in the present. With Instagram, snapchat and blogging calling my name to snap photos and record my life through a number of different ways, I have learned that it's more important to be with the people you are with COMPLETELY and just live life! This does not mean, however, that I will be abandoning my Instagram or my blog. It just means I will be trying to live in the moment and if that means taking a while to blog about it then so be it. That being said, let's catch up. In April we found out 2 life changing bits of information. First, that Zach got into Duke. We graduated from BYU and were excited for the future. I started a photography business (I have now sort o...

SURPRISE!  Zach got into Duke University's PhD program for Statistical Science. This is a revised post so we've known for a while and actually live in North Carolina now! Zach starts school next week and I couldn't be more proud or excited for him. We also graduated from BYU, Zach with a Bachelor's of Science from the college of Mathematical and Physical Sciences and I got my bachelor of Science in Physical Education Teacher's Education and coaching. Here are some photos from that special day for us!
