SURPRISE! 
Zach got into Duke University's PhD program for Statistical Science. This is a revised post so we've known for a while and actually live in North Carolina now! Zach starts school next week and I couldn't be more proud or excited for him.


We also graduated from BYU, Zach with a Bachelor's of Science from the college of Mathematical and Physical Sciences and I got my bachelor of Science in Physical Education Teacher's Education and coaching. Here are some photos from that special day for us!

The summer of 2012 was my very first semester (actually term) here at the beautiful Brigham Young University. I was so very excited to be here and all my expectations were exceeded. Living on my own? Sometimes a little homesick, but great. Having roommates? Sometimes a little crazy, but great. Cooking for myself? Sometimes really really rough, but still great. The boys? Great, great, great. Valentine's weekend getaway

The past couple of days, me and my Valentine have been taking advantage of the extra long holiday weekend and were on a little getaway. Our neighbors back home in California own a vacation home in Lava Hot Springs and have been so kind as to offer me to go stay since I came out to BYU. Until this past weekend, I had yet to take them up on their offer but, boy, am I glad I did. A few weeks ago, I was thinking about what I could do for Zach this holiday weekend. We decided not to give gifts to each other so I got to thinking about a little getaway and immediately thought of the Spencer's! Of course, they were kind and graciously offered us their home to stay for the weekend. I was so excited! eating healthy is hard

Eating healthy is something I have always struggled with. I just love good food! And, of course, I know there are healthy foods that also taste good but often times I am tempted by the delicious foods that are high in fat, calories and all the wrong things. I am an avid lover of cheese, foods that are fried and PIZZA. I like to eat whatever I want, when I want and that makes eating healthy hard. Ever since my junior year in high school, the year I stopped participating in interscholastic athletics, I have struggled with having healthy eating habits, my weight and self image. I go through a process that seems to be this terrible never-ending cycle of: doing really well with my eating and weight to giving myself a little slack because I deserve it to completely foregoing my healthy eating habits to losing my self-confidence and gaining weight then back to having motivation and eating well again.
